-Get to bed earlier
-Try to sleep for eight hours
-Avoid caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, large meals and strenuous exercise for several hours before bedtime
-Take naps to improve daytime functioning and reduce your sleep debt, but don't nap for more than an hour, or after 3 pm (that may make it harder to fall asleep at night)
-Make your bedroom a place dedicated to sleep and relaxation (remove the TV, and anything remotely work-related)
-Do the things that help you to unwind at the end of the day, that are relaxing. Like reading, watching a show on tv, taking a bath or shower, lighting a candle and just relaxing with a cup of tea, are some ideas that work for me. What ever causes your eyelids to feel just a bit heavier :)
Prepare to be shocked by how well you'll perform, look, and feel.
Think about soothing things, like this waterfall....
